“Sometimes in a conversation I just need to say something, and it is like a pebble in my shoe. I know it's there and I need to remove it because it's starting to really bother me. So, I might be looking you in the eye like I'm listening but all the time I'm thinking about the “pebble” and how I just have to get it out. So, I’m trying to focus in on what you are saying but all I’m really aware of is that “pebble”. Then, I'm no longer able to deal with it and I just have to get the “pebble” out!!”
